Classic League Rules
Classic:
60 card decks with an optional 15 card sideboard made from your league card pool.
Two-Headed Giant Odds/Evens:
Build two 60 card decks, one composed of only Odd (1-3-5-7...) converted Mana cost (CMC) cards, and one of Even (0-2-4-8...) CMC cards. Randomly determine which partner uses Odd or Even deck for the first game of a match. Then, play two one-vs.-one games, top partner playing the other top partner and bottom partner playing the other bottom partner. There are no sideboards this night.
M12 Starter:
Buy two M12 starter packs. For the first match, open one M12 starter pack. Open one of the decks in the pack and one booster. You may add as many cards from the booster to the deck as you want, then play the first game. For the second game, open the second deck and booster pack, and add as many cards as you want to the deck, then play the second game. For the third game, choose one deck to use.
For the second match, open the second M12 starter pack. Follow the same format as you did for the first match using the second M12 starter pack.
For the first game of your last match, choose one deck from a starter pack and play with it. For the second game, use a deck of your choice from the other pack. For the last game, combine all cards opened that night for your deck.
Rainbow:
Build a minimum 60 card deck using all five colours, with at least five of each colour and five lands of each colour. Multi-coloured cards count as either of their colours, but not both. For example, you can use a Black/Blue/Green card like Mimeoplasm to fulfill your requirement for one Black or one Blue or one Green card. You may use a 15 card sideboard with no colour restrictions, but your 60 card deck must always meet colour restrictions.
Dark Ascension Draft:
Booster draft with three Dark Ascension packs.
Axis & Allies:
Build two decks, an Axis one composed of an opposing colour pair (like Red & White, Blue & Green) and an Allies one composed to an allied colour pair (like Blue & Black, or Red & Green). First game of each match, play with your Axis deck. Second game, play with your Allies deck. You choose which deck to use for your last game. There will be no sideboards used this night.
Minimaster:
Purchase any three packs that the store sells. No outside packs allowed. For your first game, open one pack, and without looking at the cards shuffle two of each basic land into the pack. Play three games, using that pack as your deck. For the next match, open your second pack and add it to your first pack along with one more of each basic land again without looking at the cards in the pack. Then, play three games using those two packs as your deck. Add the third pack and one more of each land for the last match. During the first two matches, each player will have one free “Feldon's Cane” effect, which does not use the stack and cannot be responded to. As well, there are no mulligans during the first two matches.
Archenemy:
Build 60 card decks with optional 15 card sideboards. Players will be divided into four-person pods. One person will be randomly chosen to be the Archenemy, and will be provided with a Scheme deck. They may sideboard as many cards as they wish before the first game. Play one game, then the person to the Archenemy’s left becomes the new Archenemy. Only the person who is becoming the Archenemy may use their sideboard, each other player must use their original 60 card deck. The player who is no longer the Archenemy after each game must return their deck to its original configuration.
Homeland:
Build a 60 card deck with a 15 card sideboard. Each player chooses a plane to represent their “Homeland”. The player who would normally choose to play or draw may instead choose to start on their plane and give their opponent the option to play or draw.
Shards:
Build a 60 card deck representing one shard (Esper - White/Blue/Black; Grixis - Blue/Black/Red; Jund - Black/Red/Green; Naya - Red/Green/White; Bant - Green/White/Blue). It must contain at least 8 cards of each colour in the shard, at least five of each basic land for your shard, and can only contain cards of your shard’s colour (this includes lands). Any card that contains all three colours for your shard counts as one of each colour. Other multi-coloured cards count as one of their colours.
For example, a Bant Sureblade (G/U W) is usable only in a Bant deck, and counts as a Blue card, and a Green card, and a White card. Unburial Rites is usable only in an Esper deck, and counts only as a Black card. Ghastlord of Fugue (B/U B/U B/U B/U B/U) would be usable in an Esper deck or a Grixis deck, but counts as either a Blue or a Black card, but not both.
Packs:
For the first six weeks, you may only purchase M12 and Innistrad (ISD) block packs. For weeks 7-8, you may purchase packs from the Scars of Mirrodin (SOM) block in addition to M12 and ISD. For weeks 10-11 you may purchase packs from the Zendikar (ZEN) block in addition to M12, ISD, and SOM. For weeks 12-13 you may purchase packs from the Shards of Alara (ALA) block in addition to M12, ISD, SOM, and ZEN.
Mana Points:
Mana Points will be awarded on the following basis:
1 Point each night for attendance.
1 Point for each 3 point loss.
1 Point if you have 0 match wins in a night.
1 Point if you have 0 game wins in a night.
Some Achievements will also award Mana Points.
Mana Points may be spent for an extra trade (3 points), an extra trade with no restrictions (5 points), an extra pack and an extra trade (9 points), or an extra pack from any set and an extra trade with no restrictions (13 points).
Trades:
Trades will be done on a 2-in, 2-out basis. This means you may give away no more than 2 cards in one night and receive no more than 2 cards in one night. For the first six weeks, only commons, uncommons and land (of any rarity) may be traded. For two weeks after that (week 7 and 8) Mythics may not be traded. Any card can be traded after week 8.
Trades must be completed on the night that they are for.
Using cards outside of league for
trade fodder is not permitted. Any cards
involved in trades using cards outside of league will be removed from your
league pool. Repeat offenders will forfeit all Mana Points on their third
offence. Any Mana Points used on the night of the third offence will negate that
many future Mana Points.
Temporary Trades (trade-backs) are allowed. However, if done before the league is completed, it will use a trade-in and a trade-out for both people.
On Team Nights, team members may trade each other one card of any rarity. This trade is permanent, however, the team members may trade back even if the rarity is not currently allowed to be traded, but it does count as a trade for the night.
Rochester Draft:
At the end of each night, players will be divided into pods based on performance and will Rochester draft cards to be added to their league pools. Rochester drafts will be done in order from bottom to top.
